Get to know your online Bible teacher!
A true student desires to discover everything about his teachers: their qualifications, their histories, who they really are. Your goal should be to desire truth in this way, especially in such an online setting. The internet showcases all kinds of charlatans and phonies peddling their "other gospel" as Paul puts it in Galatians. But there are good, godly people and ministries on the net as well.
That's why we provide this page. We want you to know who we are. We're going to let these folks introduce themselves. So without further ado, let's meet them.
William J. Brown
Bible Teacher, Director of Curriculum Development, Webmaster
Ah, yes. The dreaded bio page. I never have a harder time speaking or writing than when I have to talk about myself.
I guess the basics would be a good starting place. My name is William Brown. I came to know the Lord at the ripe old age of four. "Can a four-year-old understand the gospel?" you may ask. My answer is simply, yes. No one led me to the Lord, a very unusual situation for someone that young.
My father did talk to me about Heaven and Hell that night, but it wasn't until after I went to bed that a real sense of fear gripped me. I could almost feel the fires of Hell licking at my body. I knew that if I did not accept Jesus Christ as my Savior before I died I would spend an eternity in Hell. That night by myself I knelt beside my bed and asked the Lord to save me from my sins.
Since then I have striven to live my life as honoring and glorifying to God. Do I remember every moment of that incident? Yes, I do! It's funny. I can't remember a thing my father told me that night before I went to bed. I just know it was about Heaven and Hell. But I remember my conversion as vividly as if it happened yesterday. I believe God saved me that night.
Yes, I've failed since then. I'm certainly not perfect, but with God's help, I will "grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ" (II Peter 3:18.) My desire is that I become more and more holy as God is holy (I Peter 1:16.)
As a young man in a high-school homeschool situation, I felt God calling me to the ministry. I graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry with a biblical languages concentration. I am currently enrolled in the Masters of Divinity program at Southwest Bible College, and I hope to finish that soon.
I live in Conneaut, a small town in Northeastern Ohio. This politically and religiously liberal setting has always given me the feeling of working on a mission field. I think that's probably why I have such a keen desire to know the Word of God. It keeps me on my toes. Living here is an important life opportunity.
I taught various academic studies at a Christian school here and am currently teaching P.E. there. I now work full time at a Christian radio station associated with the same ministry.
I still teach on Sunday, running our church's nursing home ministry. Everyone should take part in a nursing home ministry at least one time in their life. What a terrific and uplifting opportunity! Nothing but blessings come from it!
Now, God has led me to undertake the ministry of Bible-Student-Online.org. And He is still blessing.
May God direct all our paths (Proverbs 3:6.)
Marilyn L. Brown
Curriculum Development Consultant, Proofreader
To begin, my name is Marilyn Brown, and I currently teach at a Christian school in Northeastern Ohio. Although I had a physical birth, like all of you, I, more importantly, received my second birth when I was seven years old. I was raised in a Christian home and attended a Bible-believing church.
Growing up in a public school setting, I involved myself in 4-H and FFA, and I felt agriculture would be my lot in life. I attended College of the Ozarks enrolling in agricultural classes and intending to go into some related field, but God had other plans. He changed my heart and I changed my major to Elementary Education. I knew He wanted me to be a teacher.
As a result, I have taught in Christian schools for the past fourteen years. God continues to bless as I continue to follow His leading. Imagine, God used a girl who attended public school all her life to have a life ministry in Christian schools. God works in mysterious ways.
I am also involved in a nursing home ministry along with William, my husband. We have served in that capacity together for ten years and have been married for nearly eight of those years.
My desire for this web ministry is the same as my husband's: to see people grow and be blessed, and especially, I would be thrilled if this site leads many to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
May God bless you!
